Nyesom Wike has since launching his ill-fated presidential ambition appointed a number of PDP Governors (in alphabetical order: Okezie Ikpeazu x Abia; Samuel Ortom x Benue; Seyi Makinde × Oyo) as his political Aides.
Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu is the only inconsistent one of the lot.

Wike has since 2015 acquired notoriety as the Broker-in-Chief of Wadata Plaza. From sponsoring, removing and replacing National Chairmen of the PDP like changing baby diapers, Wike moved like an Avatar to bankroll the presidential bid of Aminu Waziri Tambuwal in 2019.
He commandeered the Convention to hold at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt for clear reasons. A fish is stronger in water than on land. The coronation of the godfather’s ward on the PDP ticket is more feasible in Rivers State than anywhere else. But trust Atiku Abubakar, the old war horse, to have that cold calculation decapitated with ruthless finesse. Regardless, Wike has emerged the one bankrolling several governorship candidates of the PDP cross-country since then.
Trust the power of free money. The allure of power and fame has trapped Wike in a vortex of continuous use of Rivers State money to buy followers. Akwa Ibom N600m; Bayelsa N500m; Sokoto N500m; Benue N200m plus building a road in that State; Katsina N200m; Lagos POWA N300m and still counting.
In Wike’s political stock market, no Bull and no Bear exists. Everyone is measured on the same scale and State funds are deployed to rein you in. A man who loves power and influence-peddling has no ground rules. You may have called him names and he lashed back at you as Nku Cream. You may have just finished writing mobo jobo about cholera outbreak in Abua/Odual and Wike’s negligence cum laxity. In either case, his Brown Door would bear witness to his political manoeuvring and your zero character.
So the bazaar continues…
Wike who says he loathes spending nights in Abuja or outside Rivers State has turned a tourist since Atiku gave him another pinfall at the 2022 PDP presidential nomination Convention. People have lost count of the number of times Wike would junket in and out of Europe with his gubernatorial handbags – Ortom, Ikpeazu and Makinde. That is not chicken change being burnt at the expense of severe needs by different sections of the Rivers citizenry.
Under this Buhari heavy economic weather, Wike has dolled out billions of Naira to external publics. He is busy farming followers from everywhere. He enjoys the headlines. He enjoys the TV cameras. Man enjoys the spotlight.
He is strengthening the PDP in Cross River where he forced Governor Benedict Ayade to flee to the APC on the one hand and weakening her on the other. He reveres Peter Odili but has conscripted the once widely respected Donald Duke, Odili’s mate in the gubernatorial office, into his national entourage circus. So a week after PDP Cross Riverians arrived at the Don’s Rumuepirikom conclave and left for Calabar with 25 brand new campaign Buses, Wike landed in Lagos today where he blew the fortunes or whatever hopes the Chief Olabode Georges of Lagos harboured for the PDP to smithereens. May be “Boy George” is being paid in dirty coins for not being a regular fixture on the Wike national escort train.
Lagos is richer than Rivers by a very wide berth but our distributor-in-chief parted with N300m for the Lagos Political Officers Wives Association. The Lagos APC mainstream itself got their own share of Wike’s unimaginably large heart. He would rather gift Lagos APC an endorsement of Babajide Sanwaolu for re-election than stop by to check on Jandor, the Lagos PDP governorship candidate and his Jennifer’s Diary running mate.
In all these, the PDP that is world-famous since 1398 for expulsion of erring members has remained toothless. May be the PDP is dodging the Omehia bullet from her Donor-in-Chief.
But Wike is twice as lucky shaa!!
