Following the recent appointment and redeployment of senior officers across Nigerian Army formations and units, Major General Adekunle Adeyinka assumed Command as the 17th Commander Corps of Supply and Transport (CCST).

The Handing and Taking Over ceremony took place at the Headquarters, Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport Conference Room, Bonny Cantonment, Victoria Island, Lagos on Tuesday 11 July, 2023. Speaking during the event, the outgoing Commander Corps of Supply and Transport, Major General Erema Akerejola appreciated officers and men of the Corps for their support, loyalty and commitment throughout his tour of duty. He stated that the Corps is saddled with the responsibility of providing services day and night, which requires officers and men of the Corps to be up and doing at every given time. He also expressed his gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Maj Gen Lagbaja for giving him the opportunity to continue to serve the Nigerian Army in a higher capacity.

Major General Akerejola noted that the collective contributions of officers and men under command during his tenure as Commander Corps of Supply and Transport largely contributed to the successes he achieved. He therefore, implored them to reciprocate same to his successor whom he described as a highly committed and decorated senior officer with high moral standard.

In his response, the incoming Commander Corps of Supply and Transport, Major General Adekunle Adeyinka expressed his appreciation to the outgoing Corps Commander for his mentorship, guidance, warm reception and swift handover of Command to him. He extolled the achievements of the outgoing Corps Commander, especially in the areas of improved service delivery by the Corps, infrastructural development and inclusive leadership style. He assured his predecessor of his commitment to build on his good legacies to further reposition the Corps for enhanced service delivery. General Adeyinka urged the personnel under command to key into his agenda of moving the Corps to a greater height, stressing that the task of moving the Corps forward is the collective responsibility of all. He also expressed gratitude to the COAS, Maj Gen TA Lagbaja for finding him worthy of the appointment, assuring him of his commitment towards achieving the COAS Vision for the NA.

Highlights of the event include the signing of Handing and Taking Over Notes, decoration of the new Commander Corps of Supply and Transport with the Corps Insignia, presentation of the Corps Flag, lowering and hoisting of flags, inspection of Quarter Guard, Outgoing CCST’s address to troops and commissioning of projects amongst others. The commissioned projects included Officers’ Transit Accommodation and Water Hydrant, both constructed in Ashanti Barracks by the former Commander, 70 Command ST, Brig Gen WL Nzidee.
