In his farewell address, AIG Adegoke Mustapha Fayoade reflected on his nine months and four days in charge, during which he implemented key security measures to address the challenges faced by the Command. He emphasized the growing population of Lagos State, which is projected to be among the top three most populous cities in the world by 2028, and the need for more area commands and police divisions to match the rapid urban expansion in areas like Ikorodu, Badagry, and Epe.

“Over 30 million people reside in Lagos today, and the economic hub of Nigeria presents its own challenges,” Fayoade stated. “However, with the dedication of the police force and the capable leadership of the new Commissioner, I am confident these challenges will be effectively managed.”

Before formally handing over to CP Ishola, Fayoade offered his advice: “My advice to the incoming CP is to sustain the high level of safety and security in Lagos and to improve on it further.”

After the ceremony, AIG Fayoade will be proceeding to take over his new office as the Assistant Inspector General of Police.
