JUST IN: Ex-Customs CG, Abdullahi Dikko, Dies At 60

Immediate past Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Abdullahi Dikko Inde, is dead.

He reportedly died on Thursday after a protracted illness.

Dikko led NCS from August 2009 to August 2015.

The late ex-Customs boss was born on May 11, 1960, in Musawa town, a local government area of Katsina State, Nigeria.

Dikko attended Government College, Kaduna, in 1974 where he obtained the West African Senior School Certificate in 1980. He later obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Master of Science degree in Finance from the University of Dimitrov Apostle Tshenov, Svishtov, Bulgaria.

He joined the Nigerian Customs Service in 1988 and served in various commands, including Seme Border, Tincan Island Port, Apapa, Imo Command, Kaduna, Badagry Area Command, Investigation and Inspection Headquarters, Abuja, before he was appointed as Comptroller-General of the Service on August 26, 2009.

The former customs boss had been facing a probe by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). His house said to be worth N1.1bn as well as cars worth hundreds of millions of naira were seized by the EFCC.

He also had a running battle with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), though the fraud charges filed against him were later withdrawn.
