The primary and nursery school children of Jos South local government council of Plateau state expressed their appreciation to the Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), Major General Ibrahim Ali for his untiring effort in ensuring peace on the Plateau. The children made this remark today 17 November 2021 during a visit to Headquarters Operation SAFE HAVEN in Jos to show solidarity with the troops for ensuring a safe and secured environment for academic activities.
Speaking on behalf of the children, the Child Chairperson Children Council Jos South, Hon Igah Ene Sophie, said the visit would give a lifetime memory and spur the children to become successful in their chosen careers. She thanked the Commander for his speedy response to issues of security on the Plateau. “We say a big thank you for your promptness in tackling insecurity because without peace, we cannot go to school and our parents cannot go to work thereby truncating our education” She noted.
The children also expressed their desire to emulate the leadership qualities of the Commander whom they described as simple, accommodating, liberal, honest, humble and hardworking General.
In his address, the Programme Director, Read, Learn and Grow Literacy and Jos South Children Executive Council, Mr Enow Fidelis, said the organization promotes reading culture and engages in leadership training of children from diverse background aged 7 to 12 years.
In his reaction, the Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major General Ibrahim Ali urged the children to take lessons from leaders with good virtues and unblemished track records. He assured the children of safe environment for their uninterrupted academic activities.
The commander also urged the children to take their learning seriously and engage in entrepreneurship to build their capacity for self-employment. While describing discipline as the bedrock of success, the Commander admonished the children to always listen to their parents, teachers, community and religious leaders who are committed to their overall growth and development. He further urged the children to always remember to pray for Nigeria and for their future .
Highlights of the visit were questions and answers on activities of Operation SAFE HAVEN, presentation of gift to the children and group photograph.
