Following the imposition of a dusk-to-dawn curfew on Igbo-Eze North and Igbo-Eze South Local Government Areas (LGAs) by the Enugu State Government, to contain emerging security challenges in some communities of the areas, the Commissioner of Police, CP Abubakar Lawal, embarked on a Security Confidence-building Tour of both LGAs.
In a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, and made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), CP Abubakar was quoted as ordering the Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers with jurisdiction over the areas to give full effect to the order, while charging them to ensure that Police Operatives on the enforcement duty remain resolute and conduct themselves in the most professional manner.
The CP also called on residents of the areas to be vigilant, law-abiding and comply with the Order, while supporting the Police and other Security Agencies, as they collaborate to maintain public security and safety, as well as deal head-on with unrepentant criminal elements perpetrating heinous crimes in the mentioned Local Government Areas.
The Commissioner was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of Operations, DCP Soji Akinbayo, and Heads of Tactical/Operational Formations/Units of the Command; while the Area Commanders of Udenu and Nsukka Area Commands, ACP Edwin Egwuekwe and Hassan Yahaya, respectively received and guided the CP and entourage during the Tour.
