Police Arraigned Land Agent Over N3.2m Fraud

The Lagos State Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Tinubu has fixed November 8, for the commencement of trial of a land agent, Abiodun Ibrahim Mansur.
Abiodun Mansur was arraigned on a four count charges by the Nigeria Police for obtaining money by false pretence thru forgery and stealing of N3,290,500.
According to the charge information, Abiodun Ibrahim Mansur and one Mukadam obtained sum of N3,290,500.00 in seven consecutive time via his Access Bank account from the family of Olaniyi Bashir Elias and Adebola Rebecca Elias with pretence that he is going to procure a tittle consent document at Lands office in Alausa Ikeja for their landed property at Lakowe Town, Ibeju Lekki Area, a misrepresentation he knew to be false.
The offence according to Police is punishable under section 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
Police prosecutor, Gbenga Salami urged the court to take the plea of the defendant
Mansur however pleaded not guilty after listening to all the four count charges levelled against him.
Following the plea, defence counsel, I.O. Lala pleaded for bail in most liberal terms arguing that the defence is ready to prove their innocence.
In his ruling, Magistrate E. O. Ogunkanmi admitted bail to the defendant in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The magistrate ordered that one of the sureties must be a family member while the other a Civil Servant. Adding that the two sureties must provide evidence of tax payments to the Lagos State Government as well as verified addresses.
