Olateru-Olagbegi dynasty condemns Terror attack on Worshippers in Owo
The Olateru-Olagbegi dynasty condemned attack on the St Francis Catholic Church, Owo and called on the relevant security agencies to fish out the suspected killers.
The Royal dynasty on Monday described the Sunday terror attack at St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, Owo as one attack too many.
A statement by prince Adenekan Olateru-Olagbegi and Prince Bowo Olateru-Olagbegi for the Olateru-Olagbegi dynasty says: “It grieves our hearts to see our kinsmen: old and young, especially children killed indiscriminately in cold blood. There has never been a funeral sad than this in the history of Owo Kingdom.
“We have never been this tormented, shattered, and battered as we see scores of our indigenes murdered mercilessly. It is a crime against humanity.”
The family commiserated with the Bishop of the catholic Diocese of Ondo,Bishop Jude Arogundade,the Olowo of Owo,imperial majesty, Oba Gbadegesi Ogunoye,and the Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
The family described the ugly attack as least expected, stating that Owo has been a very peaceful environment before the terrorist shattered the peace of the community.
The family said “It is a serious and unusual attack on the people who can’t go out to farm or worship God in peace. We are all shocked, it is hard to recover from the premeditated attack.”
The family said the Federal Government should be proactive in tackling the terror and security challenges in the community.
While commiserating with the bereaved families, the Olateru-Olagbegi Royal Dynasty said “Our forest here in owo, in Yoruba land have been invaded. Our farmers can’t go to farms again. Those in our forest illegally must be flushed out.”
The family thanked prominent Nigerians, traditional, religious, and political leaders who came to commiserate with the traditional ruler of Owo, the people, and families who have lost loved ones in the terror attack.
