Nigeria Army 9 Brigade parades 15 suspected miscreants in Lagos
The Nigeria Army 9 Brigade has paraded 15 suspected miscreants during an operation as Part of exercise Still Waters Operation in the Lagos metropolis .
The Suspects were reportedly arrested in the wee hours of Saturday.
Addressing newsmen, the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Isongubong Effiong Akpoumutia, said: “We took off this operation about 1am and we went to Ojota Bollar Area, which is the dump site.
“We had information of miscreants in that Bollar area. If you can remember vividly, a few days ago some passengers and motorists were attacked. Vehicles were destroyed on that same day. The Army were the first set of people that went on the ground before the arrival of the police.
“When the police came, we handed over the arrested suspects to them and left. We are aware of the situation in the Ojota general area. That is the reason this camp was sited for Exercise Still Waters.
“About 15 of the miscreants were arrested alongside their drugs like Cannabis Sativa; some of the drugs, I don’t even know what they call them, are all in the bag.
“We warn the miscreants, there is no place for you in Lagos. I want to assure the citizens that Lagos is calm. We want to make sure we are in charge. We dictate what happens.
“Citizens should be able to go about their normal businesses without fear. Why should you be afraid?”
Speaking further, Akpoumutia added: “That’s what we are trying to push because it is a vision of the Chief of Army Staff that we should have this and my General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Major General Obina Ajunwa, who has been encouraging us that we don’t give any space to this kind of people so that we can have a peaceful area, especially as we work towards the 2023 general election.
“This is not a fallout of Yoruba Nation activities because we’ve been doing this regularly. We were at Lagos/Ibadan Express Road. We were there and two divisions covered the upper sides of that area just to make sure that there is no interference of these hoodlums on the people. So, this is not a fallout at all. This is a continuation of Exercise Still Waters,” he concluded.
