Major General Usman draws the curtain on Inter-Brigade Corporal and Below Competition, commends participants

The General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Major General MT Usman has drawn the curtain on the keenly contested Inter-Brigade Corporal and Below Competition, praising the participants for their passion, doggedness, dexterity, skills and professionalism.
General Usman, while delivering his closing remarks after the four-day competition, also extolled the level of discipline and resourcefulness imbibed at various levels of the preparation.
Obstacle Crossing is one of the important aspect of Military training.
It is important to know that obstacle Crossing exposes personnel to practical situations that may block their advance during operations.
The crossing of obstacles.
These obstacles could be natural or artificially created by enemies to slow down the troops audience.
The crossing of obstacle also exposes and catches participants how to maneuver their way out of obstacle.
Using apparatus like clear jump, climbing of walls,tarzan rope,barbed wire, almighty vertical and horizontal ropes and many more.
The Chief Umpire, Lt Col Olalekan Bamiteko expressed joy for the opportunity, adding that though there were challenges, lessons have been learnt that would advance their course in subsequent competitions.
Some participants who distinguished themselves in various fields and performed exceedingly well during the competition in Weapon Handling; Combat Swimming; Map Reading and Communication; Drill and Physical Fitness Obstacle Crossing Exercise were mentioned for recognition.
Present at the closing ceremony were a representatives of the Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Logistics Command, Nigerian Airforce, Ikeja Base, Deputy Comptroller General, Customs, Hadison, the 9 Brigade Garrison Commander, Lt Col I. Galadima, the 9 Brigade Chair person of Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) and retinue of members and the Brigade Commanders of all the formations that participated.
Inter-Brigade Corporal and below competition is an annual events held at divisional level.
