LAGOS STATE COMMAND WELCOMES NEW POLICE COMMISSIONER

The Lagos State Police Command has welcomed a new Commissioner of Police, CP Ishola Olanrewaju Olawale, psc+, mnips, as its 40th helmsman. CP Ishola takes over from his predecessor, CP Adegoke Fayoade, mni, who has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police and redeployed to Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos.
CP Ishola, a seasoned police officer with over 32 years of distinguished service, joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1992. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography and a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Ibadan.
Throughout his illustrious career, CP Ishola has attended various prestigious training programs, including the Tactical Leadership and Command Course at the Police Staff College Jos and the Strategic Leadership and Command Course at the National Institute of Police Studies Abuja.
CP Ishola’s impressive career spans various key positions, including Unit Commander, Divisional Police Officer, and Area Commander in multiple locations across Nigeria. Some of his notable postings include Unit Commander and 2i/c Squadron Commander at 20 PMF Ikeja from January 1996 to July 2002 and 2i/c Squadron Commander at 23 PMF Lagos from August 2002 to July 2005.
He has also served as an instructor at the Detective College Enugu in 2011, Nigeria Police Academy Kano in 2013, and Police Staff College Jos from 2019 to 2021. As a seasoned Divisional Police Officer, CP Ishola has worked in various challenging environments, including Sabongida Ora, EDO state; Iguenben, EDO state; Igbeba division, Ogun state; and Ibara division, Ogun state.
In Lagos, CP Ishola has served as DPO in seven volatile areas, including Gowon Estate, Ibeju Lekki Elemoro, Ajah, Trinity, Apapa, Ajao estate, and Mushin. He has also held roles as Area Commander in EDO North Auchi, EDO state, and ‘L’ llashe Lagos, as well as DCP Operations at Zone 2 Lagos and CP Port Authority Police at Western Port Lagos.
CP Ishola’s experience in Lagos spans decades, during which he successfully handled high-stakes situations such as the OPC Idi Araba and Abule Egba crises, establishing himself as a tactical leader with a deep understanding of Lagos’ unique security landscape.
As CP Ishola embarks on his mission to maintain law and order, foster community trust, and enhance the safety of Lagos State, the good people of the state are enjoined to give him maximum support and cooperation.
On a personal note, CP Ishola is happily married with three children and a grandchild.
