Jubilation as STF trains 165 Civilian JTF in Plateau state on intelligence and information gathering.

The Special Task Force in Plateau state has graduated one hundred and sixty-five Civilian Joint Task Force trained on surveillance and information gathering in Riyom Local Government Area.
In a colourful ceremony held at the Riyom Local Government, Mini Stadium was attended by traditional rulers, politicians, and illustrious sons and daughters of the area.
In a remark at the passing out parade, Commander Operation Safe Haven and General Officer commanding 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Ibrahim Ali said the training of the 165 able-bodied men and women into the Civilian JTF was aimed at enhancing the security architecture of Riyom Local Government and Plateau State.
The GOC who was represented at the occasion by the Deputy Commander Operation Safe Haven, DCP Mohammad Rabiu stressed that the complementary role of the Vigilante services cannot be over emphasised considering the numerous security challenges bedeviling Plateau state and the Country, hence all hands most be on deck to allow peace to prevail in all communities while on their part they would continue to plan and conduct their operational activities in line with the vision of the Chief of Defence Staff.
General Ali noted that the 165 trainees of the Civilian Joint Task Force would contribute to local policing efforts across all the communities in Riyom Local Government Area haven acquired the basic skills that will enable them to be effective in maintaining peace in their localities. He further reminded them of the oath of allegiance administered to them to be disciplined and avoid any activity that is capable of tarnishing the image of the Civilian Joint Task Force and by extension Plateau state.
Chairman, Riyom Local Government Council Mafeng Gwallson appreciated the efforts of the Commander of the Sector 6 Operation Safe Haven Riyom, Cornel Hasan Gwani and other security agencies for equipping the civilian JTF with the necessary skills required and expressed hope that his people will continue to enjoy relative peace in their communities.
Gwallson explained that Riyom Local Government Area has always been a flash point for insecurity but thanked God that normalcy has been restored in all the communities.
The Council Chairman charged the trainees to be focused and vigilant by always providing intelligence gathering for the Military and other security agencies in the area to secure members of their communities. According to him, the 165 youths trained are the first phase of the Civilian JTF in Riyom as more would also be trained in no distant time and further pledged his administration’s readiness to continue to provide shelter for his people.
Commander Sector 6 of the Operation Safe Haven Riyom, Cornel Hasan Gwani explained that for the past 14 days, one hundred and sixty-five personnel drawn from various local security outfits and across diverse ethnic groups from the three districts of Riyom Local Government were trained by their personnel as directed by the HeadQuarters of Operation Safe Haven.
Cornel Gwani also said that the participants were taken on physical training, foot drills, weapon handling, information gathering and lectures on the current security situation in Plateau state and the country.
Member representing Riyom Constituency at the Plateau state House of Assembly, Timothy Dantong praised the Council Chairman for always standing by his people
and also for the steps taken to recruit youths into the Civilian JTF which according to him is the first of its kind in the state and charged the trainees to be proactive in carrying out their assignment.
Ataa Aten of Ganawuri, Yakubu Chaimang expressed optimism that the Civilian JTF being put in place will go a long way in curbing the menace of insecurity in the Local Government Area and implored the trainees to take advantage of the training to deepen their skills in providing the necessary security support to their communities.
Oath Commissioner at the event Barr Nokna’an Drenkat congratulated the trainees on their passing out parade and advised them to be faithful in their places of duty so that Riyom Local Government will continue to experience peace.
The event featured the presentation of writing materials to primary school students by the Commander Sector 6 Operations Safe Haven , Riyom, Cornel Gwani which according to him the gesture was part of his contributions to promote education in Riyom Local Government Area.
