The Minister of State for Education Dr. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba has continued his assessment tour of educational facilities in the country.
He also paid a courtesy visit to the former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, IBB, at the the latter’s Hilltop Mansion in Minna the capital of Niger State during an official visit to Niger State but decided to visit the elder statesman and former military leader, as he is wont on such occasions.
Earlier, Nwajiuba, was at Kuta Shiroro of the state to assess the security situation for learning at the Federal Science and Technical College, Kuta, having reviewed the situation at Birinin Yauri, Kebbi State four days before upon the return of 30 abducted students.
While inspecting the Chalk Production Unit at the school, the minister also urged colleges, especially technical colleges, to look inward in solving their problems instead of relying on the procurement mechanism at the ministry.
However, on his visit to IBB, Nwajiuba noted that it was germane to always make out time to visit such prominent personalities in order to discuss the state of the nation with a view to charting a way forward for the country.
Receiving the minister, Babangida expressed his appreciation of the visit and described Nwajiuba as a brilliant man.
He also observed that the ideas and thoughts canvassed by the minister were great.
Nwajiuba is reported to be interested in contesting the 2023 presidency.
Although he is yet to public declare his interest in the race, not a few Nigerians believe that the former House of Representatives member has all the qualities that can revive the moribund country.
A doctorate degree holder in law, the cerebral, urbane and humble minister is also a businessman, an entrepreneur and a politcian of repute.
No wonder then he is already attracting a groundswell support base, a tempting proposition that has do far failed to distract him from the arduous responsibilities of his current office, in which he has been excelling and widely applauded.
