In a speech delivered by the National President, Private and Independent School Tutors union of Nigeria , Comrade Dr. Babatunde Folarin said that “, First, let me appreciate all those who made this meeting possible in whatever capacity of our contribution to the success of today.

” I say thank you so much. My thanks know no bound today.

” I don’t take this arrangement lightly and i will forever register this in our history archives for onward rewarding system of our dear union.

Just as our Slogan goes; “together we excel”.

” I came from Ogun Sate being the cradle of Unionism especially as it Concerns Education Industry in Nigeria.

” It is noteworthy to say that Nigerian Union of Teachers started in Ogun State, Specifically from ljebu Ode Grammar School in 1926, Academic Staff Union of Secondary School of Nigeria (ASUSS) also came to existence from that school around 1989, I’m not really sure of exactly where the start up of other Education Teachers Union like ASUU, ASUP, COEASU, SSANU, NASU, SATTURAI, ASSURI, etc PRISCTUN formerly ITUN later transform to PITUN eventually became PRISCTUN.

” The idea to organize Private Schools and Independent Practicing Tutors came to be with the thought muted from ljebu Ode in 2012 and was coordinated in 2013 October 4th in 2013.
Today we are laying a legacy and a foundation expected to grow, excel and be fruitful in annals of Union movement for the neglected educational sector over-time, which of course is the Private tutors across all tiers of our professional system; more importantly the private Primary and Secondary school Tutors.
Secondly, our mission here is simple but very serious indeed.

” I m here, to introduce formally, Our Union , known as; Private and Independent Tutors Union of Nigeria (PRISCTUN) to members who are yet to be integrated in the state. We are today, legally backed by the Federal Government through a Certificate of Registration no 0133 by the arm empowered to Register Workers Union which is Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment under the current Minister of Labour Dr. Chris Ngige who approved our Registration on August 13 year 2020 and having completed the processes since 2017 to December 2020; On January 25th of 2021 the aforementioned certificate was issued to us as a License to Practice the Trade known as Unionism in the market of Nigerian Education labour Circle, with her headquarters registered at Grace Academy, Ikangba Area ljebu Ode.

” Also, in our mission to States; is to bring all similar interest groups identified between 2019 to date such as APSTON,APST,NAPST etc. into a one united body with a view to strategically and structurally put in place interim overseeing officers to manage the affairs of the Union at the State Branch level overtime.

” Before now, ljebu Ode used to host both the National and Ogun State Branch of PITUN under my Leadership while Comrade Dayo Orenusi was the Chairman of Lagos, which of course today will have to diffuse into other similar group who is ready to be with PRISCTUN. Life itself is give and take; live and let other live.

” I am therefore soliciting that only the best should be allowed to lead us across all our Strata.

” It is noteworthy to say there is No free lunch in Freetown, therefore our leaders must give us their commitment in the following areas: ABLE, RELIABLE, DEPENDABLE and AVAILABLE. Good product is our watchword and to excel is our slogan.

” On behalf of the Union, we are to give adequate information as the need arises from the members concerned and to encourage ourselves, impact ourselves, charge us and possibly empower us to take PRISCTUN to a greater height attainable.

” And this call for my knowing those whom we shall be dealing with in the course of our Union struggles to better the lots of our members.

” You will all agree with me that the story of our members are nothing to write home about when it comes to various dimension in terms of our Job Security, welfare Packages, Remuneration, Social status, economy wise, job satisfaction, Organizing spectrum, Condition of service, workload, promotion issues, Recognition and Placement even within the society to mention a few.

” Our rallying together today, will equally provide an ample opportunity not only for interaction and knowing each other purposes, but also for broad understanding of what we stand for, why we organized ourselves to a Union, when did we start, where do we started and the journey so far, where are we going, and the expectation to be demanded from us as members.

” And then Commission us on the needful assignments.

” The Union is affiliated to Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) as our Labour Centre with number 48 on the List of Industrial affiliated Unions in February 2021.

” My salutation further goes to Comrade Chris Onyeka of NLC, Comrade Alli Taiwo whom I found worthy since I got to know them And Comrade Ogunlana the Vice President South West who did his best to bring this forum to success.

” I thank you very much. I have taking note of this critically.

” On this note i want to welcome all of you to this epoch making rally and wish us the best in the state.
