The Court of Appeal on Tuesday dismissed an appeal filed by Chief Emmanuel Okewulonu of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, against an earlier ruling of the Election Petitions Tribunal, which threw out his petition against the declaration of Sir Frank Ibezim, as senator representing Imo North in the National Assembly.
Also dismissed was the quest of Senator Ifeanyi Araraume to be declared winner in the December 5, 2020 by-election.
Ibezim has thereby become the undisputed senator, representing Imo North in the senate, having overcome all the legal fireworks.
Similarly, Ibezim has also made history, becoming the only senator in the world to win over 28 court cases after triumphing in the December 5, 2020 by-election in Imo State before Tuesday’s ruling eventually affirmed his victory.
The Appeal Court judgment, being the final decision on the matter, has thrust up Ibezim as the most celebrated and distinguished senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, considering his tortuous but victorious March to the Red Chamber, a reason analysts believe could propel him towards excellent representation.
