Tributes have continually to pour in since the news of the painful exit of Nigeria’s highly sought-after security consultant, Chief Dr. Ona Ekhomu hit the media. Family, friends, and associates have expressed their deep shock and grief. Even media organizations and the private security sector have conveyed their regrets on the sad news.
The MD/CEO of Badinson Security, Matthew Ibadin in a brief chat with Oki Samson, National President of the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) commented: ‘This is a loss whose impact will be strongly felt by many because Chief Dr. Ona Ekhomu was a visionary to be reckoned with.’
Describing the personality of Dr. Ekhomu, Matthew Ibadin noted: ‘Chief Ona was an icon in the security industry. He encouraged me to register my Security Company because he was enthusiastic about progress and development of those around him. He was a Friend, a Brother and a mentor in the security industry.’
‘He was my teacher. He delivered a lecture organized by PCRC Victoria Island on Practical Implementation of Community Policing. He was one who had the interest of the community at heart and always at the fore to fight again any form of crime.’
‘But as Rabindranath once said, “Death is not extinguishing the light. It is putting out the lamp because the dawn has come”. His song may have ended, but his melody still lives on within us. May his soul rest in peace and fortitude be granted unto his loved ones’, Mr. Ibadin prayed.
Until his death, Nigeria’s foremost security consultant, Chief Dr. Ona Ekhomu is the Chairman of Security Systems and the First Chartered Security Professional in West Africa.
