Representative of the Lagos State Governor His Excellency Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu , ably represented by Hon. Minister for Women Affairs for Poverty Alleviation Lagos State was yesterday said that, “We have had 10,000 women in a short time training.

We have had over twelve thousand women in our long term training.
“We have had over Six Thousand women in our micro finance empowerment programmes and we have done a lot or empowerment program as well.
“ So Lagos State government has done so much for women in Lagos.

“Yes Six thousand can be minimal compared to the numbers of people in Lagos, but together we will get there.

“definitely, I did not see anybody doing the Job Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

That is why all of us believed in him and we are all gathered herte to get ourselves ready for the 2023 presidential election.

“ The 2023 election is to get empowered, It is an empowered women’s whose voice will be had to get empowered get ready get involved in politics, don’t allow the men to just give us anything 25% affirmative action should be put in place and should enforced”.

She made this decoration at the Official Inauguration of Women  Southwest Agenda , popularly called Women for SWAGA 2023 ,and award presentation ceremony, which was had at the Haven event Centre beside Bishop Vinny ,GRA,of Oba Akinjobi way Ikeja Lagos State Southwest Nigeria.

Speaking at the event the Chairman, Women for SWAGA, Hon. Omobolanle Akinyemi-Obe,said in her remark that, ” They have to make sure that the home is smooth, that’s what women in politics first of all stands for because you must manage your hoke before you manage outside.

Now, women in politics outside the political fields, in the political theatres in any wire in the world.

Women are supposed to be seen and be felt.

How will they be seen and be felt? It is when they participate in the politics of what is happening within their environment and outside their environment.

We cannot sit hoke and complain that Nigeria is not good that there is nothing happening in the world when we are not involved.

We have to be involved to let them know the kind of education we want for our children, the kind of medical, maternal and child care that we want for our children.

Not all of us are illiterate, those of us that are learned, we must be heard, we must be seen to lake a change, we must be seen to kane sure that every woman feels the impact of the wealth that is being derived from Nigeria that is why we are out here to let them know that it is time for women to come out but thank God we have somebody that has a listening ear, that is passionate about women because when you see the antecedents of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu from when I got to really know him, that was in 1998/99, he has always involved women, he took as along as his babies to make sure that we learn, we went to his school of hard nobs, letting us know that we have to excel, we have to lake sure that people speak well of us. Women are not meant to just clap hands, to just sing chorus songs along with the men and to uplift them.

Women are meant to be seen, to be heard and to work and to produce, we just be productive and that is what Bola Ahmed Tinubu is meant for.

That is his mantra that women should be involved in politics, women should make sure that Nigeria becomes a better place.

If he is not someone that is passionate about women, he will not have allowed his wife to participate in politics, he is a liberal person, he would not have allowed young people like us to be involved in politics, he would just say we are just ordinary women. But since 1999, I have been involved in the runnings of the governance in Lagos state in my own little capacity and other women too, he is passionate that we should be heard, we should be felt, we should be seen to be working and to make sure that Nigeria excels, that Lagos state excels, he did it in Lagos state and after leaving as governor of Lagos state l, see all his mentors, should we talk about Babatunde Fashola, see the deputy governor, she’s a female, she did very well and also to Ambode too, the deputy governor did very well and we know more women, we have SSGs as women, we have women that are high positions, we have DGs, we have them in agencies and parastatals, we have them as the headed medical hospitals, we have competent consultants at the hospital that are women, we have judges, we have those that are local because sometimes politics is local, we have market women, they are the ones mobilizing other people in the market to make sure that people vote.

As women, we are going to be delegates in this Congress and this primaries that we are going to have l, we are going to make sure that we select and nominate and appoint and vote for women to be relevant structure in all the stratas or positions in politics.

We are going to make sure that people see is as serious and not just clapping hands and see us that we are mothers to all these men, we are their mentors, they are our mentors.

HON. (MRS ) AYO OMIDIRAN National Coordinator who gave the keynote address At The Launching Of Women For SWAGA On May , 9 2022 ,said that,”Women take a sizeable portion of human population, often larger in number than their male folks. The women population is a viable support system for society building in critical sectors.

” Agriculture as the main traditional occupation and source of livelihood, depends to very large extent on women, as support- hands and in many climes as main operators.

The cultural and traditional social systems in African countries however limit the Role of women in exercising strong direct and indirect control in administration and deployment of power.

In many African societies, women act behind the scenes and in the process, wirld subtle but enormous powers.

In the Ancient African Nation States, where the Mechanical system of government was predominant, women as Queens or Queen Mothers were the powers behind the throne, as influencial organs in determining issues of state.

The advent of women in politics in Nigeria was not conspicuous till strong women personalities emerged on the political turf.

The Pre- Independent Era in Nigeria witnessed the rise of few notable women, whose personalities bestowed the country’s political landscape.

Iconic women activists and leaders like Olufunmilayo Ransome- Kuti, Wuraola Esan, Margaret Ekpo, Safi Lambo, Oyinkan Abayomi among others lighted the torch for the women folk to be heard.

The enviable participation of these notable figures in the politics and Administration of Nigeria

” The enviable participation of these notable figures in the politics and Administration of Nigeria gave more audible voices to women, who got inspired by their mentorship.

Wuraola Esan was the first woman to be elected into the Nigerian Senate.

Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, nicknamed “Lioness of Lisabi” was a profound eclectic Public Speaker and activist who fought gallant wars against taxation on women apart from being an advocate of Adult male Suffrage – Through her relentless crusade for women emancipation, she got into troubles with the Colonial and Native Authorities, all of which culminated in the deposition of a prominent traditional Ruler, Alake Gbadebo 1, of Abeokuta and his subsequent flight into exile.

It was gratifying that the few women leaders gave a good account of themselves in the positions they were privileged to occupy.

” They played progressive politics anchored on integrity and patriotism. They were active in the agitations for Independence and were Role models for other women.

” They were part of the Vanguard for National progress, peace and unity.

The post Independence era, particularly the events that culminated in the three- year Nigerian Civil War could have done a lot of reverses for women activism in politics as the country’s democratic Administrations in the years 1979 – 1983, 1995 – 1999- Date exhibited little level of women activism in in the political landscape.

For instance, since the return of Civil Rule in 1999, women’s political activities have only pushed them to the positions of Deputy Governors.

Some have been appointed Ministers, while few have been elected into parliament.

” The need for Nigerian Women to hike their level of participation in the politics of their country has therefore become more imperative than before.

” The current jostling for elective offices at local, state and federal levels are still not registering sufficient inputs and appearances by the women folk.

“Only a woman among the motley crowd males has shown a bid for the Presidency and this is not impressive enough.

“The Role of women in forging a passifying uniting force in the political equation of Nigeria cannot be brushed aside.

Their high population is an advantage they can employ to realize this lofty dream.

Women can effectively combine their roles as Mothers, Home builders, Care givers and dutiful wives with political activities as long as such are carried out without losing the essence of their God given responsibilities and their integrity.

” Women are peace makers. Being of feminine stock, they are more naturally inclined to tow peaceful, non violent lines.

How many women are engaged in political bringande ? How many women thugs do we have compared to men thugs? As mothers, women are pained at harmful effect of violence on others simply because of the trauma of pregnancy and child delivery.

More women in leadership position means greater spread of love, peace and harmony among Nigerians.

” I challenge women to rally round themselves and support the emergence of their own in various positions of responsibility for National growth, unity, and progress.”

Also Speaking Yeye Yinka Olaiya, welfare officer women for SWAGA,said that,
” Today is our inauguration for women for SWAGA Lagos and every other part of Nigeria, to rejoice because today is the day that we are putting down a legacy that women, we are for Asiwaju Bola Hamed Tinubu for presidency.

We emerged on this journey several months ago and we have been going to every local in Lagos State and all over Nigeria also to encourage, to support to come out side and give their voting right we can not be talking behind and without coming out for action This is the time, this is the women time.

We all made the decision that Asiwaju Bola Hamed Tinubu is the man because he has laid us legacy and we have found a mentor in Bola Hamed Tinubu because number 1.

We have a medical outreach for women because women we have so many medical issues that we don’t attend to

Some of us we believe in fake or number one we don’t have time to go to the hospital, but out reach, we encourage ourselves let us go and check the medical outreach and give back to the medical out reach.

In the year that Asiwaju Bola Hamed Tinubu was a governor he has so many women in his cabinet.

We are no longer women of yesterday I’m a career woman.

Women of this days we go out and achieve whatever we want I will not be a president that will not support Bola Hamed Tinubu, support his wife, in the senate not once, not twice, so this is a person that will run the affair in Nigeria.

Also Speaking, Hon . Ayo Adeyeye ,said ,”As well as politics we need massive of women.

The women thay are our wives, thay are our sister, thay are our daughter the women folks in Nigeria have shown a tremendous support for Asiwaju Bola Hamed Tinubu.

And with their support with the kind of things we have seen with the theme of women which we are just doing on former unching today and we are fully confident and I’m sure that Asiwaju Bola Hamed Tinubu will excel not even a primary and with the general election.

Arebinrin Hon. Princess Olabanji Oba, The National PRO Women for SWAGA today is all about our great leader.

A leader that is second to know we are women and we are seeing we are solidly behind 2023, Dr. Bola Hamed Tinubu, no other choice simply the best choice we have been on this for almost two years.

We are pleading with him to adhere and finally yielded.

And so we are saying that in that spirit of Love, selfless love that he shows us all the time we are giving it back, it is a payback time for him he can count on us that we believe in him, If Lagos weak other state follows, and so we are launching, Lagos State follows, and so we are launching, Lagos State Women for Southwest Agenda 2023 we have done this in almost all the state But today we are doing a medical outreach in the morning.

We are on the next session now which is the whole of women in politics peace and tranquility saying that when there are no women nothing can be done.

As a mother, sisters, natural great nation, builders we must make sure that the transition is peaceful and in mobilizing whatever we do, we should stand and stand our choice His Excellency Dr. Bola Hamed Tinbu. So is all absorbed his ambassador in what we called leadership showing us that we are all under his tutelage we believe in him.

So we can see the numbers here today and I’m exited I know he will be assured for our principle.

You know Lagos were saying at least Five Million, the five million women can convince Five Million men that is 10,000 men, we have got our youth.

As a mother we are the Heartbeat, the Important thing is that let us all occupied engaged and participate, knowing that our choices will determine what happened with our great person, we have no other one lets be sure that we play out part in making him the best in the world.

We have been doing that in the past two years, which we have touched almost all the state.

We did the visitation to the Royal entities everyday and that was still consulting Right now is another step, the primaries and here.

The choice no other steps but his Excellency Dr. Bola Hamed Tinubu.

And so even for the formal and informal sector we went into the market place and all that.

We even gave some of them mobile set to be able to register to increase the number, before we have a voter apathy and all of that and a lot of them didn’t understand the importance that have in their hands.

PVC is the great power so peaceful transition, credible transition is what it Is all about to all Nigeria women.

Today in the medical outreach is about 600 to 700 beneficiaries and in the dental section like about 400 opticians are all that there, we have medical doctors taken cross examination in all the sections We have so many beneficiaries in fact we have well over a thousand today.

Speaking at the event the Chairman, Women for SWAGA, Hon. Omobolanle Akinyemi-Obe,said in her remark that, ” They have to make sure that the home is smooth, that’s what women in politics first of all stands for because you must manage your hoke before you manage outside.

But since 1999, I have been involved in the runnings of the governance in Lagos state in my own little capacity and other women too, he is passionate that we should be heard, we should be felt, we should be seen to be working and to make sure that Nigeria excels, that Lagos state excels, he did it in Lagos state and after leaving as governor of Lagos state l, see all his mentees, should we talk about Babatunde Fashola, see the deputy governor, she’s a female, she did very well and also to Ambode too, the deputy governor did very well and we know more women, we have SSGs as women, we have women that are high positions, we have DGs, we have them in agencies and parastatals, we have them as the head medical hospitals, we have competent consultants at the hospital that are women, we have judges, we have those that are local because sometimes politics is local, we have market women, they are the ones mobilizing other people in the market to make sure that people vote. We know how to maneuver them, we know how to turn them around, we know how to change their minds and we are going to make sure that 500 women in Lagos state are going to change the minds of 5 million men towards Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

As a civil servant, we are not mandated to speak to the press that is why I may not want to appear on camera.

As for our mission here is one of our mandate and this is not the first time we have been going round for this type of assignment so after our visit, we will go to Lab, carry out test, make our recommendations and submit to the institute so the institute will know take further necessary action on it.

As for this now, you can see that we are just collecting samples so we can not say exactly what is the main problem but if it get to the office, we carry out all necessary test, that is only when we can actually say this is the main reason why the building collapsed but we have been going around all like the Ikoyi Building collapse, we have submitted our report, the institute is still working on it so it has not been made public.

We are collecting irons, samples of those are the things we are collecting now for Laboratory test.

Within two weeks, we will be able to submit our report to the Institute, Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute.

On the strength and capacity of the women group to deliver, he told Town Crier News Nigeria , ‘Women are critical component in politics. They are the highest population who vote, they are the highest population who canvass. So we have to look at them and rub minds with them to be able to have a successful government.”
