Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has declared Tuesday, August 20, 2024, a public holiday in Lagos State to mark the 2024 Isese Day celebrations. This traditional religious festival is observed by adherents of traditional religions, and the state government’s declaration aligns with the United Nations’ recognition of August 20 as World Traditional Religion Day.

All government employees in Lagos State are expected to observe the holiday, with work resuming on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. Accounting Officers have been directed to disseminate this information widely.
This is the first time the Lagos State government has declared a holiday for Isese Day, highlighting the administration’s dedication to recognizing and respecting the state’s diverse cultural practices.
