A Pakistan Nationale Muhammed Zubair was on the 22nd day of March, 2022 arraigned before Magistrate Miss K.A. Ariyo at court 10 Samuel Ilori Court House Ogba, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria for allegedly attacking Mrs. Nnaemeka Kofoworola on the 17th day of December, 2021 at No. 7/11 Egbe Road, Ikotun.
In a petition written by Mrs. Nnaemeka Kofoworola dated 21st of December, 2021 against Muhammed Zubair to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP) the petitioner alleged that the accused has been bulling and calling her unprintable names which she has been enduring over the year, and then he physically assaulted her for daring to talk back at him.
On receipt of the petition, the CP directed Human Rights Resource Centre Lagos State Police Command to investigate the allegation which took nearly three months for the investigation to be concluded and the CP upon findings directed that Muhammed Zubair be charge to court.
The Prosecutor Inspector Christopher John told the court that the offence is contrary to section 171 (2) and punishable under section 172 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The one count charge reads in part that you Muhammed Zubair “M” on 17th December 2021 at about 1430hrs at No. 7/11 Egbe Road, Ikotun Lagos, in Lagos Magisterial District did unlawfully assault one Mrs. Nnaemeka Kofoworola ‘F’ by throwing fishing line plastic to hit her right hand and thereby committed an offence.
When the charge was read to the accused he pleaded not guilty and the presiding magistrate Miss K.A. Ariyo admitted him on bail with N100,000.00 and two sureties whose address must be verify by the court.
