A Pakistan nationale Mr. Yusuf Muhammed Zubair Khan a staff of carthago Limited has been arrested by the police in Lagos state, southwest, Nigeria, following a petition written against him by Mrs. Nnaemeka Kofoworola that he assaulted her.
According to the petitioner, on the 17th of December 2021 while she was on duty the suspect was bullying her by calling her unprintable names in the presence of her colleagues and as a married woman she could not stand it anymore and she replied to him by also calling him the names he was calling her.
In the petition which was dated 21st of December 2021 and addressed to the Lagos State commissioner of Police Akeem Odumosu Mrs Nnaemeka Kofoworola said Muhammed Zubair Khan picked an object on top of the table which he threw at her and the object hit her right hand which aggravated her health as she was just recovering from a major operation.
The Lagos State commissioner of Police mandated O/C human rights at the command to investigate the case which led to the invitation of Mr. Muhammed Zubair Khan and Our reporter was presented at the human rights office State command Ikeja on the 11th of January 2022 where the suspect was being interrogated and during the interrogation Mr. Muhammed Zubair Khan admitted to have assaulted the complainant.
The human resources manager of carthago Limited Mr. G.A.A Ajuyah who accompanied the suspect to the Station also told the Police that when the complainant called him on phone to report the action of Mr. Muhammed zubair khan and he confronted him of the allegation he did not deny it and that he also spoke with those staffs that were present during the assault and that they all confirmed that it was true.
As at the time our reporter was leaving the station around 5pm Mr. Muhammed zubair khan was still with the Police at the state command Ikeja.
Human rights advocacy of Nigeria have indicated their interest in the case and vowed to sue the company if they demand that Mrs. Nnaemeka Kofoworola full entitlements be paid since she has been placed on indefinite suspension.
