The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Lagos State Council with heavy heart but for lives well spent, mourns the death of a former Editor-in-Chief of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mr Idonije Obakhedo and a Frontline Journalist and Unionist, Mrs Raheemat Momodu.
The death of the duo came to us as a shock.
Idonije will be remembered for his lofty contributions to the growth of NAN as well as the growth of the union.
He was always there to guide the union and rendered very useful advice.
Momodu was also a unionist of repute who was in the forefront of building a very solid foundation for both the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) and the Lagos Council of NUJ.
The duo ran a good race on earth and made indelible marks in journalism.
They will forever be remembered because they were righteous.
We pray that God will grant both comrades eternal rest and grant their families the fortitude to bear the big loss.
